Death Cafe for Animal Companions is a special, supportive space where people come together to talk about something that’s hard to discuss: the loss of our beloved pets. It’s a warm, open environment where you can share your stories, memories, and feelings about the death of your animal companion, and the grief that comes with it.

It’s a place to talk about the complex emotions of bereavement and the deep bond we share with our pets, who are considered family. You can explore topics such as how to cope with sadness, how to honor their memory, and how to create a lasting legacy for your pet. Whether you're struggling with loss, seeking suggestions on ways to celebrate your pet’s life, or simply looking to connect with others who understand, you're not alone here.

Together, we’ll open up the conversation about the challenges of saying goodbye, while celebrating the love and joy our pets brought into our lives. Let's create a space of healing, support, and connection as we share our journeys through grief and remembrance. ❤️

Our Upcoming Death Cafes

The History of Death Cafes .

The concept of the death café originated in 2011, created by Jon Underwood and his mother, Sue Barsky Reid, in London. Inspired by the ideas of Swiss sociologist Bernard Crettaz, who had organized similar gatherings called "café mortel," Underwood sought to create a space where people could openly discuss death in a relaxed environment, breaking the societal taboo surrounding the topic.

The first death café was held in Underwood's home, and it quickly gained popularity. The format encouraged informal discussions, allowing participants to share their experiences and thoughts about death, dying, and grief. The success of these gatherings led to the establishment of more death cafés across the UK and eventually around the world.

In 2013, Underwood created a website to connect people interested in hosting their own death cafés, providing resources and guidelines. Since then, the movement has grown significantly, with thousands of cafés being held globally, fostering open conversations about mortality and helping individuals cope with grief.
